08/01/09- Flames engulfed a pickup truck on Sunday evening in an incident that left no one hurt but the pickup destroyed.

Fire Chief Kirk Littlefield said the pickup traveling south on High Street apparently overheated around 9:30 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire using special foam in under five minutes. Littlefield said Monday that the exact cause of the fire had not been determined. Police Chief Vincent Carlone said the truck’s owner is Jeff Holden, though the chief did not know who was driving the vehicle at the time of the fire.

The fire came a little more than a month after a Volkswagen beetle caught on fire near town beach. In that case, firefighters also used foam to douse the blaze.
