RI DEM parking permits for the lot in Galilee will be on sale at the Police Station from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
For these placards, which can be switched between two vehicles in the same family, the applicants must appear in person with their license and registration, in their name. If applying for two cars, both registrations are required and the person to whom each car is registered must be present.
Fees are:
RI resident (RI drivers license) - $150.00
RI senior (65 & older) - $ 75.00
Out of state resident - $250.00
Check or cash only; checks payable to State of Rhode Island
Applications available at Town Hall and the Police Station. Permits will be on sale at the Galilee lot on May 1. For questions, please call the DEM Office at 783-5551.

Harbors Department-Shellfish Warden
Part and Full time positions
Salary: $11.36 -15.10/hour /No Benefits
Seasonal: May-Oct.
Responsible for consistently enforcing State and local shellfishing/finfishing ordinances in the Great Salt Pond. Also charged with public education in regard to shellfish protection and regulations. Shifts are coordinated based upon weather and tide position. Positions require working on weekends and holidays.
Position involves a varying daily schedule dependent on tides to patrol Great Salt Pond by boat and on land to inspect licenses and quantities and size of shellfish taken. Must be proficient in safe boat handling, good verbal communication skills and excellent public relations skills.

Dog License
The 2010 Dog Licenses will be available at the Town Hall beginning Thursday April 1, 2010. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be provided before a license can be issued. The fee for each license is $6.00. Dog owners are required to renew dog license annually by May1, 2010. New licenses are available at any time for puppies over six (6) months and dog owners who move here. No license shall be required for any pup under the age of six (6) months. Dog licenses are available at the Town Hall Mon-Fri 9:00am-3:00pm.

Proposed Amendment New Shoreham Zoning Ordinance
Article 3, Section 310(E) and Appendix B
The New Shoreham Town Council will hold a public hearing on the application of Payne’s 1614 Realty, LLC to amend the New Shoreham Zoning Ordinance to add the words “Restaurants within Duly Permitted Inn” to the list of uses allowed by special exception in the Mixed Use Zone [at Article 3, Section 310(E)], and to make a corresponding change in Appendix B (Use Categories Allowed by Zoning District).
Before acting on the foregoing proposal and/or amendments to it, the New Shoreham Town Council will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Town Hall, Old Town Road, New Shoreham at which time all persons for or against may be heard. The proposed ordinance may be altered or amended prior to the close of the public hearing without further advertising, as a result of further study or because of the views expressed at the public hearing. Any alteration or amendment must be presented for comment in the course of the hearing. Position Title: Wastewater Operator I
Supervisor: Sewer Superintendent
Salary: $14.00 to $18.00/hour
40 hours per week - Family Benefits
High School Diploma or GED and valid driver’s license required. Position requires strenuous physical dexterity. Applicant must obtain Grade I State Certification for Sewer within one (1) year of employment. Responsible for proper operation of pumping stations and treatment plant and to assist in delivery of efficient sewer services for the Town of New Shoreham.
